What People Say
"Kenneth has been my drumming instructor for about 4 months. I’m an adult beginner learner with a real shyness for performing.
As a teacher Kenneth is very flexible and remarkably patient. He can explain things (sometimes repeatedly) in a way that helps me understand and remember. Kenneth also has a huge enthusiasm for both drumming and teaching that is infectious. He is able to bring together different styles of drumming in his lessons so that I can see the link from traditional drumming patterns right through to the most crazy rock and complex jazz – but you can see it all working in the music. He can also play incredibly! When you see the amazing stuff he plays, he is then able to break it down and show how learning each bit fits together towards getting the whole skill right.
Kenneth’s aim is to help me understand the techniques, the instruments and the music but he wants to develop my ability to play for myself, not just follow music from a sheet. His lessons are well prepared with a structure that builds week on week to help the learning journey make sense – but also to be fun! I am a teacher by profession and I see a professionalism and care in his teaching such that if I wanted my son or daughter to learn to love playing the drums, I would definitely choose him for their lessons. I highly recommend Kenneth as a tutor."
"Our 4 year old has been starting drum lessons with Kenneth a few months ago and is really enjoying the experience so far. He's made surprising progress in that short time considering his age. We were slightly worried that he may be too young to start learning, but Kenneth has been fantastic at teaching the basic concepts of rhythm in a way that is relatable to a pre-schooler. He does this in a patient, friendly manner and is always open to flexibly adapt the lessons on the fly when his little student is struggling or just having a difficult day. Highly recommended."
